We chose to do the Phantom Time Hypothesis because, however ridiculous, at first glance it could've been true. It looked interesting and it wasn't to do with some sort of Nazi or evil government plan. There is also some pretty convincing evidence to support it, even if it doesn't add up. What other reason could you find for the lack of advancement in the Dark Ages?
The fact that so many historians agree with the fact that there were scarce advancement of architectural, scientific, or artistic methods during 600-900AD, known as the Dark Ages.
